Why and when do we apply titanium dioxide on roofing membranes?

Titanium Dioxide ( TiO2 ) is a catalysator that converts harmful sulphur (SOX) and nitrogen dioxide (NOX) into harmless salts. Sprayed on roofing membranes it gives them an air-cleaning property.

TiO2 is sprayed during the production process on the slate of the membrane. It is a milky white substance and for that reason we do not apply it on dark membranes.
