The rolls are installed in the direction of the water drainage and in a staggered (half-bond) pattern.
The first membrane roll is unrolled and aligned, then rolled back up to approximately half its length.
The side edges of the membrane are marked on the underlayer.
After rolling back, the cold adhesive is applied within the marked zone using a notched squeegee. The membrane is then unrolled into the cold adhesive.
Cold adhesive consumption must follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.
The next membrane roll is applied in the same way. End laps (≥ 15 cm) and side laps (≥ 8 cm) are sealed using a hot-air gun or soft flame. All detailing should follow the Buildwise Technical Guidelines Nos. 280 and 244.
Overlaps and upstands cannot be bonded using cold adhesive. In case of doubt, consult your IKO advisor.
Gutter areas and all details, such as edge finishes, expansion joints, drains, rooflight upstands, etc., must always be executed in two layers.
Additionally, upstands must be finished with a two-layer waterproofing system using vertical strips 1 meter wide. The waterproofing at the upstand must be staggered relative to the field layer.
The underlayer is secured using a method suited to the existing substrate, but must always comply with the wind uplift resistance requirements as stated in Buildwise Technical Guidelines Nos. 280 and 239.
