1. Drainage at the Waterproofing Level
At the top level of the roof structure – the waterproofing layer – you can integrate four different drainage options or accessories. These are installed directly onto the top bituminous layer:
A vertical drainage solution that runs directly through the roof structure to drain rainwater down. This is ideal when water needs to be drained through a pipe inside the building.
A horizontal drainage solution that allows rainwater to drain off the side of the roof. This system is particularly useful for roofs where vertical drainage is not possible.
A penetration that doesn’t have a drainage pipe but is designed to safely and watertightly pass through pipes, cables, or steam from the roof.
A ventilation accessory that prevents condensation within the roof structure by allowing air and vapor to safely escape.
=> All these elements are fixed directly to the bituminous top layer and ensure a reliable connection within the top level of the roof structure.
2. Drainage at the Vapor Barrier Level
For extra safety and security, IKO also offers solutions at the vapor barrier level. These provide a second line of defense in the roof structure:
A vertical drainage solution with an integrated PE pipe, designed to connect to the bituminous vapor barrier. This drainage system guarantees the waterproofing of the underlying level, even before the entire roof structure is completed.
A variant without a pipe, designed to ensure air-tightness at the vapor barrier level, just like the Power Drain Shield. This solution prevents air and vapor losses and serves as the connection point for the upper drainage.
Both systems provide a safe and high-performing base for the final drainage system on the top layer.
