How should PIR insulation boards be cut?

When cutting insulation boards, it is important to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a suitable FFP3 dust mask.

  • To minimize dust production during cutting, it’s best to use saw equipment with fine teeth.
Adjust the depth and length of the saw blade to match the thickness of the insulation board being cut.
  • The cutting can be carried out using a handsaw, jigsaw, or circular saw. However, PIR insulation can also be easily cut using a sharp utility knife.
  • To reduce dust, a vacuum cleaner can be connected to the cutting equipment.
For a clean and straight cut, it is recommended to use a rigid saw blade.
