Why use insulation compartmentalisation and how to apply it?

A base layer can also be used to compartmentalise the roof. By bonding the base layer onto the vapor control layer, the roof can be divided into separate zones. This technique is strongly recommended for rainwater outlets and green roofs in general. It can also be applied as a daily closure during phased roof installation.

This method offers several advantages:

  • Easier leak detection
  • Localised moisture damage instead of widespread issues
  • Improved wind resistance and reduced storm damage
(provided the roof deck is airtight)
  1. Substrate
  2. Slope layer
  3. Vapor layer
  4. Insulation
  5. Base layer
  6. Top layer

Important!

  • Always check the compatibility between the vapor control layer and the base layer.
  • The roofing contractor must mark the compartments on the execution plans.
